Unconditional
i was once driving directly behind a woman who hit a dog. it was a really little dog, and she was driving a really big truck... so i knew this probably wouldn't be good. i pulled over to help and a man who was obviously the owner came running down the street calling his dog's name. it turns out the dogs leash had slipped off and it went running. we all got to the dog at about the same time, (did i mention it was the kind of dog you would carry in a purse) and things looked pretty hopeless. the owner was about 6'4" and probably had about 500 pounds of straight up muscle. i was somewhat worried for the life of the woman who had hit the dog, who was apologizing profusely. the man said that it wasn't her fault (in a voice that was about 5 octaves below your average mans voice), and then he did something that somewhat shocked me, he knelt down, and picked up his little dog in a way that was the gentlest thing i've ever seen in my life, he carried it to the sidewalk, and as it slowly died he just kept whispering to it that everything was going to be ok, and that he loved it. then he started crying... it's something i'll always remember, this guy could have snapped a tree in half with no trouble, he could have easily killed the woman that hit his dog, and his voice alone was enough to terrify me. but he was caring, forgiving, loving, and he wasn't afraid to let his emotions show. it kind of made me think of our race... us being the dog. we break free, run away, do really stupid things, and then even end up killing ourselves sometimes with stupid choices, paying no heed to our owner/makers voice telling us to stop. then when we hurt ourselves so badly that our lives are at risk, god scoops us up, whispers that everything's going to be ok, and that he loves us, then he cradles us crying for us. GOD a dude that could snap the solar system in half no problem, he could smite every human being off of the face of the earth just because we're being stupid, he is really something that we should fear with everything we've got, because he's just that powerful. but he actually loves, us, and cares when we're hurt. he has unconditional love for us... even when we're running right in front of cars... er trucks, and being idiots... unconditional, even when we can't feel it, he's cradling us and whispering to us when we're hurting the most. that's it. he's powerful, compassionate, loving, and incredible. Unconditionally.
